In the Spring of 2008, Clay Action Coalition administered a Social Availability of Alcohol Survey (SAAS) in Clay County's middle schools and high schools.  Preliminary results point to more than 65% of surveyed students reporting it would be "easy" to "very easy" for underage youth to obtain alcohol from home without their parents knowing it. Keep checking our website for a posting of  this survey's final results and summary.

Many children begin drinking as early as age 12. That's two years before they've tried geometry. Research indicates that children are less likely to drink when their parents are involved in their lives and when they report feeling close to their parents. So next time you complain about how fast they're growing up, consider that it might be in your power to slow them down.
